For Make Music Day, we're building a wall to let everyone in. Will you post your video?

For Make Music Day, we are asking for every musician within the region to post a video of themselves playing to a virtual video wall. Can we count on you?  No contest. No Games. Just Music. Now, more than ever, music is the answer everyone can hear. We ask that you upload a video anytime before Sunday, June 21st and we will organize everyone to SHARE your VIDEO at the same time on that day. We can make an “inclosion” (soon to be in Urban Dictionary as an explosive inclusion).

Here’s how THE VIDEO WALL works:
So we can coordinate with you, register for an account on StreamCatcher and submit up to 3 videos of your music. We will add your video to the wall with the info you provide: song title, your name, and a link to your website if provided.

Check out the other videos and please share the video wall liberally and often, and especially on 6/21, when all over the world people will be celebrating from isolation but in concert. We will mail instructions to everyone we can to coordinate “flash mobs” of music as we share your work and make the internet all about music and you.

Other info:
This project is open to everyone who makes music. There is no other requirement except the will and chill it takes to post a video of your being musical before June 21 (Make Music Day). We can accept YouTube links or Vimeo links. The entrant is solely responsible for assuring that the link to their song works.

We invite you to send us your video today.  If you have any questions about the StreamCatcher projects or would like to support projects like this, please email streamcatcher@saw.org.

Make Music Day DMV

PLEASE SEE STATEMENT ABOUT MAKE MUSIC DAY AND COVID19

An outbreak of music has been predicted for June 21st throughout the DC, MD, VA area and the only cure is to listen and enjoy. We need venues, voices, volunteers with vision and musicians of every kind throughout the area. Won’t you join our team and help us celebrate the universal language that speaks to us all…music?

The Songwriters’ Association of Washington has picked up the gauntlet for Make Music Day celebrations in DC, Maryland and Virginia and will be spearheading the 2020 festival. If you have the space, the time, a passion for live music of every kind, we need you.  The official Make Music website is not quite ready to go but will be soon. Please sign up here if you are able to help organize, play at or find venues.

This is a free day of music so venues, musicians and organizers may not be charged or ask for money to perform or manage a venue. And here is some background:

Make Music Day is a free celebration of music held on June 21 each year in more than 1,000 cities throughout the world. We have already started to organize Make Music Day DMV into a truly unique celebration that honors the diversity of our local music scene and showcases how music can bring us all together, and we invite you to get involved.

What will Make Music Day look like? We have several events in the works already, and we encourage you to suggest and offer all ideas that are in the spirit of the celebration. This is a free celebration so venues, musicians and organizers may not be charged or ask for money to perform or manage a venue. Typically, Make Music Day events fall into one of these categories:
- Live performances
- Open Jam sessions
- Events that focus on a single instrument, theme, or group performance of a well-known piece
- Participatory workshops

We are now recruiting key volunteers to help plan and organize events for this years’ Make Music Day DMV. Our local efforts will be supported and guided by the national nonprofit Make Music Alliance, including access to an online matchmaking software that connects performers to venues, publicity, general consulting and other assistance. Please contact us at
makemusicday@saw.org for more info and to get involved. If you would like to perform at Make Music Day DMV, please check back with us in mid-March and be sure to follow Make Music Day DMV on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Please see our Press Release for more information, including a list of previous Make Music Day events in the DC area and around the world.
