Immediate Release SAW TO ANNOUNCE
AWARDS WASHINGTON D.C. - The Songwriters’ Association of Washington (SAW) will announce the awards for the 24th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest at an Awards Gala on Sunday, December 2, at Jammin’ Java (227 E Maple Avenue, Vienna, VA), beginning at [time: 7pm]. This event is open to the public and will cost $5 to attend. The evening’s program will feature performances of many of the award-winning songs. Contest sponsors include Axis Acoustics, Folk Alliance, Mary Cliff’s Traditions, MasterWriter, Omega Recording Studios, Oasis CD Manufacturing, Songwriters’ Market, and TAXI. The Awards Gala will feature entertainment from 1st (Gold) and 2nd (Silver) place winners from each of the following categories: Contemporary Folk & Acoustic, R&B/Rap/Hip-hop/Dance/Urban/Go-Go, Rock/Alternative, Adult Contemporary/ Soft Rock, Country/Bluegrass, Gospel/Inspirational/Christian, Jazz/Blues, Pop, Children’s, and Open (novelty, seasonal, theater, art song, etc). The highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the Grand Prize Winner, chosen from among over 600 entries from throughout the United States. The Grand Prize Winner will receive $1,000 cash, a free year of TAXI membership, and a three-year SAW membership. The Second Place Overall Winner will receive $500 cash, a free year of TAXI membership, and a two-year SAW membership. The Third Place Overall Winner will receive $250 cash, and one year TAXI and SAW memberships. The Young Artist Award Winner will receive $250 in cash. Gold winners in each category receive free CD mastering and one free 70-minute CD original of their prerecorded material, compliments of Omega Recording Studios in Rockville, MD. Both the Gold and Silver winners in each category receive a free Songwriters’ Market book from Writers’ Digest Books. In addition to the above prizes, all Gold and Silver songs from each of the ten categories will be included on a Winners’ CD, compliments of Oasis CD Manufacturing.
