Judges:

The Grand Prize Winner will be determined by a distinguished panel of top music industry executives specifically selected for the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest.

Notification:

The Grand Prize and Overall Winners will be announced at the Awards Night Gala. The first and second place winners in each category will be notified by phone or registered letter. Finalists and Honorable Mention winners will be listed in the Awards Night program.

Awards Night:

The culmination of the contest will be the Awards Night Gala held in the Washington, DC area in the Fall of 2000. All entrants are encouraged to attend, as this is a great opportunity to network with peers and industry representatives. Invitations to the event will be sent directly to all entrants, as well as members of the music industry.

The Winners’ CD:

All first and second place songs from each of the 11 categories will be included on a Winners’ CD to be distributed to top personnel in the publishing and A&R departments of major record labels and publishing companies.

The Songwriters’ Association of Washington (SAW), founded in 1979 as a nonprofit organization, holds the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest to help songwriters receive recognition and assistance in their musical endeavors. The proceeds from the contest enable SAW to provide programs throughout the year that educate and develop the talents of those interested in the art and business of songwriting.
