Angela Carnegie Wins MASC16 Angela
Carnegie of Valley Cottage,
New York, won the grand prize in the 16th Annual Mid Atlantic Song Contest
for her gospel entry "I Carry You With Me" at the Awards Gala
on November 20, 1999 at the Clarendon Grill in Arlington, VA. Carnegie
took home a check for $1,000 and assorted prizes provided by contest sponsors
BMI, OASIS CD and Cassette Duplication, Omega Recording Studios, Songcasting,
and Writers Digest Books.Marie-Alyce Devieux, also from New York, won 1st over all with her Pop song "Ruby Room," and Mark Pfaff from Baltimore won 2nd overall with "There Goes My Heart" in the Adult Contemporary category. The crowd heard live performances from Carnegie, Pfaff, and other winners in such categories as Rock, Gospel, and R&B/Urban/Hip Hop/Dance as well as a ensemble performance by local singer songwriters Andrew McKnight, Mary Byrd Brown, and David Alberding. "Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to our sponsors and volunteers," said Contest Director Connie Poole. MASC16 was actually the second song contest conducted by SAW last year. The contest had fallen behind in previous years SAW decided to conduct MASC16 in an expedited fashion to catch up. The 17th Annual Mid Atlantic Song Contest will be getting underway this spring. The Official Winner's List is now available in Excel or Lotus format. |
