Richard White is a guitarist/songwriter originally
from Texas. Before moving to the Washington area in early 2007,
he lived for many years in Richmond, Va. where he recorded his first
CD, “A Firefly’s Dream”. This effort earned him
“recording artist of the year” honors in 2005, from
the Va. Organization of Composers and Lyricists. After this CD project,
he formed a trio called “Buddhaverse” with bassist David
Jaroneski and drummer Debbie Flood (formerly of the band ‘disappear
fear’).
Richard plays guitar in many alternate tunings,
but favors the blues tuning used by Skip James, Son House and others,
called “Bentonia” tuning. He lists the late Michael
Hedges, Chris Whitley and Leo Kottke as influences.
