The Mixing Bowl encourages community among SAW members and members of the Surge, with a Pot Luck supper and themed Open Mics.

What's that spell? "C" undefined see ya real soon!  It spells "The Mixing Bowl" where next Saturday night, April 19th, we'll be celebrating "Songs from the '60s"! You KNOW it was a great decade for music, with the introduction of the Beatles (wow) and the start of great songwriters like Carole King, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon. Songwriters like James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and Crosby Stills and Nash became all the rage at the end of the decade, right along with Woodstock. Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, the Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones and the Who also got their start in that decade. But let's not forget the Beach Boys, the Righteous Brothers, the Four Tops, and Country Music stars like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.

Play us your favorite song from those years OR a song that you wrote that was based on a great song from the '60s. We'll start the evening at 6:00 p.m. with a pot-luck supper and Frank, our sound man, will play us some '60s music while we're eating to get us in the mood. (Frank asked if he could wear his tie-dye t-shirt and I said, "Yes! It's a party!") Performances start at 7:00 p.m., with 3 songs from each performer, duo or group. You can sign up in advance by sending me an email at paige@paigepowellmusic.com

The place? The Surge Community Center, located at 1988 Kirby Road. Be there or be square!
